Allow mentors to access the grades and self-evaluations of their apprentices' training evaluations, professional maps, and any other information. Nervous about the next interview? Can we help? We will conduct a short practical interview (about 20 minutes) (more “simulated”) with you and provide you with specific suggestions on how you can do your best. After you schedule your interview appointment through Wildcat Handshake, be sure to arrive on time, dress professionally, and treat your practice interview as if it were real. As a courtesy, we can record your interview so you can watch it later (or show it to your family and friends).
Once a student begins to look for work in earnest, there are many ways the mentor can help, from encouraging and giving advice to direct recommendations. When possible, set up a phone call or a face-to-face meeting, which can be much more persuasive than a letter. Introduce students to members of their own network of contacts and encourage them to expand that network themselves.
