How can i use local libraries and community centers to access employment resources?

Career Connections services can be accessed at local libraries in 14 of New Jersey's 21 counties, and include career counseling by trained library staff. Library staff in 12 states report an increase in the use of library computers to search for work, as more and more employers, from grocery stores to casinos to state governments, are requiring people to apply for work online. Americans rely on libraries not only for free access to computers and the Internet, but also for the assistance and training that library staff provide every day. Nationwide, 88 percent of public libraries provide access to employment databases and other employment opportunity resources.

The current career-related resources and services offered by many public libraries are listed below to encourage exploration of the resources available to professional professionals and their clients. For example, the National Library of Medicine is helping local librarians to be more effective local navigators by regularly organizing webinars and training sessions for local librarians on how to navigate social services, aging, mental health, welfare and public assistance, housing resources, health care, and educational and employment resources.
